Local Missions

At CPC we are passionate about helping our community and caring for our neighbors.  We have formed partnerships with the following groups and organizations to help promote healing and hope in our local area.

North River Care Pregnancy Center
Located in Palmetto, the North River Care Pregnancy Center exists to show compassion to women and their families facing a crisis pregnancy. In response to God’s call to protect human life, born and unborn, the center offers assistance to women in need and helps saves lives of unborn babies.  Christ Presbyterian Church holds diaper drives twice a year to collect not only diapers, but other baby essentials like wipes, shampoo, bathtubs, and such.  CPC also helps the Center promote the Center’s various fundraisers they hold throughout the year.

Salvation Army Angel Tree
Right here in Bradenton, Florida there are many families who have fallen on hard times and struggle to meet the financial demands of day-to-day life.  Christmas time is difficult as they question how they might provide even a gift or two for their children on Christmas Day.  CPC is delighted to annually support The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, helping provide new clothing and toys for needy families.  This past Christmas, we helped in two ways.  We decorated an Angel Tree with numbered paper angel tags.  People take one or more tags from the tree and purchase age appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.  Also, some people from CPC volunteered at the Salvation Army distribution center, sorting and packing the donated gifts collected throughout the community.  Both serving opportunities are a beautiful way to share the joy of Christmas!

The Food Bank of Manatee
Food drives are a very important resource for The Food Bank, resulting in valuable canned food and dry goods.  These drives also are a great way to spread the word about The Food Bank of Manatee and the need for hunger prevention in our community.  Because hunger has no season, the Food Bank welcomes our food drive donatations any time throughout the year.  We strive to hold one Food Drive in the spring and another in the fall.

Journey Groups
Are hurts from the past affecting your relationships today?  Everyone carries a story.  Stories can be filled with loss and beauty, betrayal and connection, shame and confusion.  The Journey Groups ministry believes your story impacts your present reality and your hope for the future.  CPC partners with Journey Groups by promoting the group sessions held throughout the year.  Group participants share and explore their life stories to reveal both healthy and unhealthy patterns of relating.  They look at how the Gospel invites us to a greater depth of love and freedom.  CPC members Jim and Pat Keller are long-time Journey Group leaders.  If you would like to learn more, or find out the dates of the next Journey Group sessions, contact the church office at connect@emphasisonchrist.org.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship – Zach Alexander
InterVarsity is a vibrant campus ministry that ministers to students through small group Bible studies, large gatherings on campus, leadership training, thoughtful discipleship and life-changing conferences and events. We believe that when students and faculty are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, their campus is transformed, and ultimately society as a whole comes to more closely reflect the priorities of the kingdom of God. This is why we invest in the lives of students and faculty, wherever they are on their spiritual journey.

Christian Motorcyclists Association – CMA
CMA is a non-profit, interdenominational organization.  The CMA ministry is dedicated to reaching people for Christ in the highways and byways through motorcycling.  The ministry began in the mid 1970s and now has over 1,200 chapters chartered in the United States. Through the CMA International Ministry, CMA is also represented in other countries throughout the world.  CPC Wayne Metcalf is a member of the local CMA chapter.  He would be happy to share about this ministry and upcoming events and rallies.  Email Wayne at waymet3@gmail.com.
