Friendships are one of the parts of life that makes it special. With good friends you laugh, cry, go through hard times, watch your children grow up together and even watch each other grow old. But one of the difficulties of friendships in our modern world are they are often close only for a season. Even in the Bible we see this with David and Jonathan. They were the closest of friends 1 Samuel 18 tells us. But we also know they were separated by various events and eventually Jonathan’s life would end far earlier than David’s.

In today’s modern world people uproot quickly. We no longer live in the same city for our entire lives as past generations did. Although we have modern means of communication to stay in touch which is a positive, we still are not able to instantly teleport ourselves for going out to dinner with a friend who lives a long way away. The point is, friendships are one of those gifts God gives us. Enjoy the presence of friends. God has placed them into your life. If you read this and think I really don’t have close friends, the solution is simple. Be a friend and you will make a friend.

Luke 22:7-13

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.  Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”  “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.  He replied, “As you enter the city,  a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.” They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

I. Introduction—Ordinarily things are Ordinary not Extraordinary

1. Miracle of Direction vs 8-11

2. Miracle of Provision vs 12-13

3. Miracle of Hiddenness–

“where will you have us prepare it?”

4. Miracle of the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

– Passover to Lord’s supper

– Heard of a missionary couple that had to downsize to get to the mission field. They could only take a few items with them and they could only store one car load of things in a relative’s garage. So they packed up what they could take to the field and then began to discuss what to pack into the SUV for storage. What would you keep if you could onlykeep one car load of “stuff”. They went back and forth on what to take, what was the most precious – the china or the pictures or the football memorabilia. They were so focused on their task, they figured out where something could go into every nick and cranny of the SUV. Finally it was full. They were so proud of themselves, they were proud of their zeal for the Lord and very proud of their packing skill. They only problem was they had no room for the kids!
– That is usually our problem, we get so consumed with what we are doing it is easy to forget those that are most important around us. In your business take the time to – “love one another deeply, from the heart”. 1 Peter 1:22
